Although Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent expected to overrun the island within one week, tiny Malta proved to be a stumbling block rather than the steppingstone to Europe he had imagined.

Getting there:  There are frequent direct bus routes to Valletta. From the bus terminus it is less than a ten minute walk to the city centre and The Great Siege Events Museum / Café Premier.

From the Valletta Waterfront: On foot, by bus, taxi or horse-drawn carriage.
